Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Brendan Taylor announced that he will retire from international cricket after 17 years.<\/p>\n

In statements released via his social media platforms on Sunday 12 September 2021, Taylor said he will be retiring after Zimbabwe\u2019s final ODI vs Ireland on Monday 13 September 2021.<\/p>\n

Taylor needs 110 to finish as Zimbabwe\u2019s highest run-scorer in ODIs. If he scores 69, he will reach 10,000 international runs across formats.<\/p>\n

Brendan Taylor did not reveal the reason for his retirement nor his next step. Pindula News publishes Taylor\u2019s full statement announcing his retirement:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s with a heavy heart that I\u2019m announcing that tomorrow is my last game for my beloved country. 17 year\u2019s of extreme highs and extreme lows and I wouldn\u2019t change it for the world.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s taught me to humble, to always remind myself how lucky I was to be in the position I was in for so long. To wear the badge with pride and leave everything on the field.<\/p>\n

My goal was to always leave the team in better position as to when I first arrived back in 2004 , I hope I have done that.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m so thankful for the friendships I\u2019ve gain around the world, you will always be with me and I hope to cross paths again in the near future.<\/p>\n

To Zimbabwe Cricket. Thank you for the opportunity and I hope I have made our country proud in some small way.<\/p>\n

To my team mates and coaches past and present. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget you all.<\/p>\n

To the fans back home who have been so loyal to me over the years. I\u2019m eternally grateful.<\/p>\n

To my friends at home, my parents Debbie Wakefield Taylor my mother in law Gail Meyer Readings and my best mates my two brother\u2019s who have been with me every step of the way Grant Taylor Keegan Taylor . Thank you so much.<\/p>\n

Finally to my wife @tkellyanne and our four beautiful boy\u2019s. You have meant everything to me on this journey and it wouldn\u2019t have been possible without you. No more airport heartaches. I look forward to our next chapter. I love you all very much.<\/p>\n
