Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The children of war veterans have endorsed President Mnangagwa\u2019s candidature in the 2023 harmonised elections.<\/p>\n

Working under the banner Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA), they said they shared Mnangagwa\u2019s vision.<\/p>\n

This comes after all Zanu-PF provinces across the country have endorsed him as the ruling party\u2019s presidential candidate.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the first-ever CZLWVA conference at Outward Bound Resort in Chimanimani on Friday, national chairman Raymond Chiwara said:<\/p>\n

We are here for our first national conference which has also given us the opportunity to announce our preferred candidate for the 2023 election.<\/p>\n

We have agreed with all our members across the country that there is no better candidate for the 2023 election other than President Mnangagwa. He has convinced us that he is the only one who can solve our challenges as children of war veterans. Therefore, we are giving this message to leadership here represented by Cde Nokuthula Matsikenyere and Cde Mike Madiro.<\/p>\n

In her keynote address ZANU PF Women\u2019s League deputy chairperson Matsikenyere, who is also the Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Manicaland said it was encouraging that the younger generation was willing to respect and recognise the liberation war legacy.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, war veterans are reportedly yet to endorse Mnangagwa accusing him of betraying both 15 Nov 2017\u2019s \u201cOperation Restore Legacy\u201d and the Liberation Struggle itself.<\/p>\n

War veterans have in the past campaigned for the ruling party and only rebelled against the leadership towards the end of the late Robert Mugabe\u2019s tenure.<\/p>\n
