Africa-Press<\/a> – Zimbabwe<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>STATEMENT BY HARARE ACTING MAYOR CLLR MUSARURWA MUTIZWA ON THE NEED TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN ACHIEVING A WORLD CLASS CITY STATUS BY 2025<\/b><\/p>\n

Council is calling on property owners and business operators in Harare in the city to repaint, renovate their buildings and maintain the frontage of their properties with immediate effect as part of efforts to reclaim the Sunshine status.<\/p>\n

Harare has the vision to achieve a world-class city status by 2025. That vision can only be achieved with the full participation of residents, business and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

We are currently running with the hashtag #TheWorld ClassCityBegins With You. This is our rallying point for everyone to participate. This is as well part of our re-engagement with stakeholders.<\/p>\n

There are however provisions in the city bylaws that allow the city to hire contractors on behalf of building owners in the event the owners fail to spruce up their building. The cost would be borne by the owners.<\/p>\n

This route is however not in the best interest of our engagement thrust and confidence building.<\/p>\n

The council is at the forefront calling people to #VisitHarare. Our tourism receipts can only grow when all parties are playing their part.<\/p>\n

A beautiful and well-manicured Harare will certainly be the destination of choice for both tourism and investment.<\/p>\n

We are in the process of compiling abatement orders to all property owners starting with those in the CBD. The abatement orders are instructions to beautify one\u2019s building.<\/p>\n

This programme will also be decentralised to suburbs so that they can do the same to complement the efforts of the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
