The COVID-19 variant was first detected in South Africa and has since been detected in many other countries.<\/p>\n<p>UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid confirmed that the two COVID-19 cases of the Omicron variant were found in Chelmsford and Nottingham.<\/p>\n<p>Both cases are now self-isolating at home with the families. According to Javid, the two cases are linked and are connected through \u201cSouthern Africa\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve always been really clear that we will do whatever is necessary to protect the progress that we have made as a country. We\u2019ve come a long way, especially since the summer, and we keep all of this under review. If we need to take further action we will.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the Omicron variant has been detected in Belgium, the UK, Israel and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>The UK government has now ordered anyone who has travelled to a red list country in the last 10 days to self-isolate.
