Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Bulawayo Community health workers have gone for eight months without receiving their COVID-19 allowances from the City of Bulawayo.<\/p>\n

The workers claimed that the local authority has not been releasing funds from the Health and Child Care ministry since March.<\/p>\n

They have also lamented poor working conditions, citing the council\u2019s failure to provide personal protective (PPE).<\/p>\n

City director of health services Dr Edwin Sibanda said the Health Ministry is yet to release the funds. He said:<\/p>\n

COVID-19 allowances are given out by the ministry. In a meeting that we had yesterday, we agreed that a follow up has to be made so that the recipients get the money.<\/p>\n

He implored community health workers to lodge their complaints with community health nurses they report to so that they get PPE.<\/p>\n
