Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A Chiredzi woman was abandoned by her husband of 14 years for another woman after she had sponsored his university degree by selling tomatoes and vegetables.<\/p>\n

Diana Netsai Masendeke was stunned on Friday when she found her husband Albert Nhada on the verge of exchanging vows with Nobuhle Masuku at Chiredzi Magistrate Courts.<\/p>\n

Masendeke told The Mirror that she sold tomatoes and vegetables to raise money to send her husband to university. The couple has two kids.<\/p>\n

The wedding between Nhada and Masuku was cancelled at the eleventh hour by Magistrate Judith Zuyu after it was opposed.<\/p>\n

When the magistrate called for anyone opposed to the marriage, Masendeke, the two kids and her father stood up.<\/p>\n

Masendeke told Magistrate Zuyu that she was married to Nhada under the Customary Marriages Act.<\/p>\n

Zuyu then stopped the wedding from going ahead.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that Nhada had planned a white wedding at Mkwasine Country Club which was supposed to take place on Saturday, 18 December.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Mirror, Masendeke claimed her parents invited Nhada who was staying in rural Chivi to Chiredzi where they got him a good-paying job. Eventually, Nhada bought a car. Added Masendeke:<\/p>\n

I have been married to Nhada for the past 14 years and we have been together ever since.<\/p>\n

He like most men has been promiscuous but I never thought it would get to this.<\/p>\n

Nhada was a good man before we had money, I married him when he had nothing and we were living in the rural areas at Mseba in Chivi.<\/p>\n

We had nothing and I was selling fruit and vegetables to fend for the family.<\/p>\n

In 2010, he enrolled at university and I used money from vending to pay his fees until he finished.<\/p>\n

In 2015 my parents called us to Chiredzi and they got a job for him.<\/p>\n

I am heartbroken. I have been with him through thick and thin and this is his way of thanking me.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Masuku said she didn\u2019t care that Nhada was married to Masendeke and vowed to pursue the matter. She said:<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t mind that Nhada had a wife and we will continue with the wedding no matter what.<\/p>\n
