Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Home Affairs Minister, Kazembe Kazembe, has won the ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Province chairmanship after defeating Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) president, Tafadzwa Musarara in this week\u2019s polls.<\/p>\n

Kazembe retains the chairmanship after garnering 20 968 votes against Musarara\u2019s 17 709.<\/p>\n

The polls were not without controversy amid reports that the former ICT minister manipulated the electoral process.<\/p>\n

Reports say Collen Mharadzano, a senior elections officer, allegedly received US$25 000 from Kazembe to turn figures for him after his rival Musarara raced ahead of him.<\/p>\n

Riot police had to fire warning shots to disperse Kazembe\u2019s and Musarara\u2019s supporters who violently clashed after the latter\u2019s supporters prematurely celebrated victory in some constituencies attracting the wrath of their \u2018opponents.\u2019<\/p>\n
