Munemo is revered as one of the founders of the Chitepo School of Ideology.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Mnangagwa\u2019s sanctions plea comes as the USA extended sanctions on the country last week for another year.<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-164\" src=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/12\/171124130944-13-emmerson-mnangagwa-1124-exlarge-169-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.africa-press.net\/upload\/sites\/14\/2017\/12\/171124130944-13-emmerson-mnangagwa-1124-exlarge-169-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.africa-press.net\/upload\/sites\/14\/2017\/12\/171124130944-13-emmerson-mnangagwa-1124-exlarge-169-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.africa-press.net\/upload\/sites\/14\/2017\/12\/171124130944-13-emmerson-mnangagwa-1124-exlarge-169.jpg 780w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\u201cI am aware that as I make this exhortation, the American government has renewed sanctions against us. We call for the unconditional removal of the illegal, spiteful and completely unjustified sanctions on our country which continue to violate the basic human rights of our people.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe fought for peace, we believe in peace and we do not pose any type of threat to any country in the world,\u201d Mnangagwa said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Mnangagwa and his senior government colleagues were recently given a stay of execution by the European Union (EU), which last month decided against hitting the country\u2019s under-pressure \u2018\u2018new dispensation\u2019\u2019 with fresh sanctions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This comes as Trump had last year raised hopes that his government could finally end nearly two decades of frosty relations between the USA and Zimbabwe \u2014 after he sent a powerful delegation to Harare to engage with Mnangagwa, ahead of the country\u2019s historic elections.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Meanwhile, the president described the late Munemo as a reservoir of knowledge on the ethos and ideology of the liberation struggle.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201c\u2026Munemo was a mobiliser and reservoir of knowledge on the ethos, history, norms and values of the liberation struggle. The late national hero served the country with loyalty and distinction,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The President challenged researchers to take a leaf from Munemo to be catalysts in instilling a new and patriotic mind-set in learners. \u201cI challenge educators in the country to draw lessons from Cde Munemo and to inculcate a new mindset in our learners, a mind-set that is patriotic,\u201d the President said.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President\u00a0Emmerson Mnangagwa has pleaded with the United States of America (USA) to remove sanctions arguing that they were not what the country fought for during the liberation struggle.
