Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The ruling ZANU PF party is set to conduct primary elections on Friday, ahead of the upcoming by-elections on 26 March.<\/p>\n

The winners in the primaries will represent the party in the 28 National Assembly and 105 local authority seats that are up for grabs across the country.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Wednesday, ZANU PF National Secretary for Commissariat, Mike Bimha, said:<\/p>\n

Provinces are advised that primary elections for both House of National Assembly and Local Authorities have been postponed to take place on Friday, 21 January 2022.<\/p>\n

The Party has deployed Politburo, Central Committee, National Elections Commissioners and Secretariat from Party Headquarters to take overall charge of the conduct of both the House of National Assembly and Local Authority primaries.<\/p>\n

The vacant parliamentary seats are Pumula, Nkulumane, Epworth, Gokwe Central, Glen Norah, Harare Central, Highfield East, Highfield West, Kuwadzana East, Mufakose, St Marys, Kambuzuma, Harare East, Dangamvura Chikanga, Mutasa South, Marondera Central, Chivi South, Binga North, Mkoba, Mbizo, Kuwadzana, Glen View North, Marondera East, Murewa South, Mwenezi East, Tsholotsho South, Kwekwe and Mberengwa South.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the MDC Alliance will field recalled legislators and councillors in the upcoming by-elections without subjecting them to primary elections.<\/p>\n

The by-elections are mostly a result of MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora\u2019s recall of MDC Alliance\u2019s elected officials, accusing them of joining a rival party \u2013 the MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa.<\/p>\n
