Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Tropical Cyclone Batsirai has drifted further southward away from Zimbabwe resulting in sunny, humid and hot weather conditions across much of the country.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) said Batsirai was forecasted to lose its tropical nature this week as it moves over cooler sea surfaces. The MSD said:<\/p>\n

Batsirai is more than 1 000km from Zimbabwe\u2019s eastern border and has moved further southward at 17km per hour over the past six hours (as at 10 am Monday). It is forecast to move in the southward direction over the next 36 hours.<\/p>\n

In this direction, it is headed for cooler water seas surface temperatures of below 25 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n

Thus it can begin to lose its tropical nature and will soon be classified as a post-tropical depression ex-Batsirai.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, in this transient position, ex-tropical Cyclone Batsirai should draw moisture from Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

As such, Wednesday (today) should be mostly sunny, humid and hot over most parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Batsirai killed at least 20 people and displaced 55 000 others in Madagascar after making landfall on the country\u2019s eastern coast.<\/p>\n

The tropical cyclone reportedly destroyed about 3 000 dwellings and government buildings and flooded 5 700 others in Mananjary and nearby towns.<\/p>\n
