Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Zimbabwe has said the embassy in Berlin recorded 256 citizens in Ukraine and has also advised its nationals to leave Ukraine if it is safe to do so and travel to any third country. Russian President, Vladimir Putin Thursday 24 February 2022 authorised the military invasion of Ukraine citing a genocide against pro-Russian rebel states in the neighbouring country. The attacks have sent many into panic mode aid reports that at least 200 Zimbabwean students are still stuck in Ukraine. Pindula News presents an update on the situation as presented by Information Secretary, Nick Mangwana:<\/p>\n

-Zim Embassy in Berlin has registered 256 citizens in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

-Advised nationals to leave Ukraine if it is safe to do so and travel to any third country.<\/p>\n

-Representations were made to different embassies to allow safe passage of our nationals.<\/p>\n

-Officers being dispatched to Poland subject to authority being granted, to assist in coordinating those going there.<\/p>\n

-The Embassy can pay for hotels and buy tickets from Berlin.<\/p>\n

-Nationals advised to maintain contact with the embassy so decisions can be made faster.<\/p>\n

Help will be given when nationals have accessed any of the following third countries; Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary Moldova and Russia. Currently there are no flights out of Ukraine so travel has to be by other means. Stay Safe.<\/p>\n
