Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>France-based Warriors midfielder Marshall Munetsi has called for a speedy resolution of the impasse between the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) on one hand and FIFA\/CAF on the other.<\/p>\n

FIFA, the world footballing governing body recently banned the Zimbabwe national team and local clubs from all international football and cup competitions over the SRC\u2019s interference with ZIFA affairs.<\/p>\n

The SRC suspended the elected ZIFA board on 16 November 2021, accusing the ZIFA executive of corruption, sexual abuse of female referees among other allegations.<\/p>\n

FIFA demanded the reinstatement of the ZIFA officials and the failure by the SRC to reverse the suspension of the Felton Kamambo-led board resulted in the ban.<\/p>\n

In a statement posted on his Twitter page, Munetsi, who plays for Stade de Reims in France, said the ban comes at the wrong moment as football was just emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic. Wrote Munetsi:<\/p>\n

The ban on our national teams from international football and our local teams from international cup competitions is quite sad, football has since evolved into a sport that\u2019s more than just a sport, many livelihoods now depend on it, its a source of hope during tough times<\/b><\/p>\n

Football is a uniting table where people with differences can sit together and feast at the spectacle we call the beautiful game.<\/b><\/p>\n

It has been 2 years without any meaningful development on the local football scene due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result of that.<\/b><\/p>\n

we stand to lose a young generation of talented footballers who now have to resort to other means of earning because football has been in limbo.<\/b><\/p>\n

As we were now getting back into some sort of cautious normalcy as we try to emerge from the effects of COVID-19 in our football our beautiful nation gets struck by a ban on international football.<\/b><\/p>\n

Our football stands to lose quite a lot for many years as a result, I pray the parties involved can get to a resolution quickly so that we can get back to playing international football soon and the decisions made will, in fact, pave a way for better running of our football.<\/b><\/p>\n
