{"id":5554,"date":"2019-03-13T18:01:36","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T18:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=5554"},"modified":"2019-03-13T18:01:36","modified_gmt":"2019-03-13T18:01:36","slug":"makunike-alron-and-mashoko-gone-but-not-forgotten","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/makunike-alron-and-mashoko-gone-but-not-forgotten","title":{"rendered":"Makunike, Alron and Mashoko: Gone but not forgotten"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today marks fifteen years since the death of three CAPS United players \u2013 Blessing \u201cYogo Yogo\u201d Makunike, Shingirai Alrone and Gary Mashoko \u2013 in a car accident.<\/p>\n<p>The accident happened when the players were travelling back from Bulawayo after winning a league match 2-1 against Njube Sundowns.<\/p>\n<p>The trio did not travel in the team bus and instead joined the two supporters in their car which crashed into a pillar of the bridge near Norton and caught fire. All five people in that vehicle were burned to death.<\/p>\n<p>We, at Soccer24 Zimbabwe, join the football fraternity in commemorating the 15th anniversary of this tragedy. We pray that their souls continue to rest in peace and their beloved ones get comfort from God\u2019s love.<\/p>\n<p>Makunike, Alron and Mashoko were part of the 2004 squad that went on to win the league, losing only one match on the way.
