{"id":55575,"date":"2022-03-06T23:02:15","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T21:02:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/?p=55575"},"modified":"2022-03-06T22:15:25","modified_gmt":"2022-03-06T20:15:25","slug":"highlanders-coach-in-accident-with-vehicle-donated-by-sakunda-holdings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/highlanders-coach-in-accident-with-vehicle-donated-by-sakunda-holdings","title":{"rendered":"Highlanders Coach In Accident With Vehicle Donated By Sakunda Holdings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Highlanders coach, Mandla \u201cLulu\u201d Mpofu, has allegedly crashed the Ford Everest car which was issued to him to use as Highlanders coach by the club\u2019s main sponsors, Sakunda Holdings in September last year.<\/p>\n<p>Reports suggest that Mpofu is in trouble with his employers over the development which was worsened by his failure or neglect to report the accident to the police and to his employers, but chose to secretly send the car for panel beating to conceal the damage.<\/p>\n<p>While Mpofu managed to hide the misfortune to his superiors, word eventually reached the ears of his bosses and he reportedly denied that he had been involved in an accident when he was initially confronted.<\/p>\n<p>Mpofu later admitted that he had a mishap in January just after he had returned from Cameroon where he had gone on national duty with the senior national team.<\/p>\n<p>Investigations carried out by Highlanders indicated that the car\u2019s airbags went off, which could render the vehicle a write-off when the case is presented to the company that is providing the car\u2019s insurance cover, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Mpofu has since made a police report about the accident as required by law.<\/p>\n<p>Highlanders are said to have also informed Sakunda Holdings of the development since the car belongs to the sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>Sources told The Sunday Mail that Mpofu is still driving the car, but is expected to soon present himself before a disciplinary hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Mpofu and his Dynamos counterpart, Tonderai Ndiraya each received brand new Ford Everest vehicles from Sakunda while team captains, Ariel Sibanda (Highlanders) and Patson Jaure (Dynamos) got Ford Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>More: The Sunday News<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\">Zimbabwe<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
