{"id":55675,"date":"2022-03-08T18:55:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-08T16:55:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/?p=55675"},"modified":"2022-03-08T18:46:37","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T16:46:37","slug":"zupco-buses-are-available-for-hire-chombo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/zupco-buses-are-available-for-hire-chombo","title":{"rendered":"ZUPCO Buses Are Available For Hire \u2013 Chombo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Local Government and Public Works deputy minister Marian Chombo has rejected claims that Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO) buses can only be hired by certain political parties and said the buses are available for hire by anyone.<\/p>\n<p>Chombo said this in the National Assembly last Wednesday while responding to Magwegwe MP Anele Ndebele (MDC Alliance) who had queried why ZUPCO hired out buses to certain political parties leaving commuters stranded. She said:<\/p>\n<p>ZUPCO is a parastatal and we provide transport services. We do not choose which political party to hire out to, and our first and foremost important customer is the commuter and that is when we can hire out our buses.<\/p>\n<p>It is not correct to say that we hire out our buses to certain political parties \u2014 that is not correct. Anyone can come and hire ZUPCO buses.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, before we agree to hire out that bus, we first examine if there is adequate transport for commuters.<\/p>\n<p>If there is any area that is disadvantaged, it is regrettable but we hire out transport to any functions.
