Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Alpha Media Holdings chairperson, Trevor Ncube, has said he is being attacked by the ruling ZANU PF and the opposition in the country following his announcement that he was pulling out of the Presidential Advisory Committee (PAC).<\/p>\n

The PAC, formed in 2019, has been advising President Emmerson Mnangagwa on various fronts including business, religion, Agriculture and International Relations.<\/p>\n

His decision to step down as Mnangagwa\u2019s advisor has attracted criticism from various quarters. Ncube said this Tuesday:<\/p>\n

On Monday, TheNewsHawks, a local publication, argued that Ncube had compromised his journalism ethics for money by working with Mnangagwa.<\/p>\n

Ncube argued that he agreed to work with Mnangagwa, one of the longest-serving lieutenants of the late founding leader of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe because he thought the former Defence Minister was sincere about implementing reforms.<\/p>\n

Ncube says he has been disillusioned as Mnangagwa has come out worse than his predecessor.<\/p>\n

Commenting on responses to Ncube\u2019s withdrawal from PAC, Clive Tawanda Tendaupenyu said, \u201cthe attack on Trevor Ncube is a macrocosm of what is wrong with our society. we are not ready for an alternative view, we are always inclined to impose preferences on others. democracy is overrated.<\/p>\n

Others said Ncube was not being attacked but people are just offering varying opinions.<\/p>\n

Those who are in his corner say there is nothing wrong in believing that Mnangagwa was genuinely intending to transform Zimbabwe\u2019s fortunes.<\/p>\n

They say even Nelson Chamisa, leader of opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and the late Morgan Tsvangirai, a former Prime Minister and founding leader of opposition MDC, as well as many other opposition leaders, endorsed Mnangagwa in 2017.<\/p>\n
