Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>CCC president Nelson Chamisa has said former MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe is free to join the newly-formed party.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with NewsDay on Wednesday, Chamisa said CCC will, however, define membership to protect itself from people who might be seeking to destroy it from within. Said Chamisa:<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t stop someone who has come and said they want to be part of CCC. After all, this is a citizen initiative, this belongs to the people, we are working to change the nation for the better, not for CCC, but for everyone, so even those in ZANU PF who want to see change are welcome.<\/p>\n

Obviously, we will define our membership, we will protect from those who might want to harm the party, but it is critical for everyone to understand that we are not about positions, but delivering change that will benefit not only us but generations to come, this country needs a break, it needs new leadership and a breath of fresh air, this is our focus and not positions.<\/p>\n

CCC officials, especially in Bulawayo Province, are reluctant to work with Khupe, accusing her of destroying the MDC Alliance when she was interim MDC-T president.<\/p>\n

After falling out with MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora over the control of party funds, Khupe started to court CCC officials, but CCC members are sceptical about her true intentions.<\/p>\n
