Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Rimbi Travel and Tours bus could lose its cross border licence after one of its buses was intercepted in South Africa allegedly carrying illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

South Africa\u2019s Home Affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi on Monday expressed anger over Rimbi\u2019s failure to respect the neighbouring country\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n

Motsoaledi was at Beitbridge Border Post on Easter Monday to assess the illegal immigration crisis at the end of the holiday period. He said:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m irritated because the owners of that bus think we\u2019re clowns in South Africa.<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t obey any law whatsoever, they were given a cross border licence by the authorities but they are misusing it.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m irritated because very recently they were fined R420 000 for ferrying illegal people in South Africa and that\u2019s the law.<\/p>\n

According to the law, they should be paying R15 000 per person but they never paid, and I\u2019m made to understand they are allowed (on the road) yet they never paid.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s worse is that the driver doesn\u2019t have a passport. There\u2019s no way in the world a bus driver would be allowed to cross a border without a passport.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve ordered him to be arrested because he is a habitual lawbreaker. That\u2019s undermining a country, that time is over and something serious is going to happen.<\/p>\n

Motsoaledi claimed the biggest problem South Africa is facing is that of border jumpers.<\/p>\n

He also revealed that 700 illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe and other SADC countries were arrested during the Easter break while trying to sneak into South Africa.<\/p>\n
