Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has said schools opened without any challenges for the second term on Tuesday, 3 May 2022.<\/p>\n

The majority of teachers reportedly turned up for lessons in most schools across the country, unlike during the first term when educators stayed at home citing financial incapacitation.<\/p>\n

Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said the turnout of teachers and learners was impressive. Ndoro said:<\/p>\n

Schools opened for the second term smoothly amid strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols using the standard guidelines for the management and prevention of COVID-19 at all learning institutions. Learners turned up in numbers as well as teachers.<\/p>\n

The worst is over and we expect to develop and contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation through a robust relevant quality education delivery system.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) chief executive officer Sifiso Ndlovu said:<\/p>\n

The opening is good in the sense that we are going to see children having a full tutorial.<\/p>\n

The encouragement is that as much as possible children should have full classes as opposed to half classes and alternating.<\/p>\n

This means that we have also contained the plague of the COVID-19 pandemic which is a positive development.<\/p>\n

Some private schools were, however, sending pupils back home for non-payment of school fees.<\/p>\n
