Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Lovemore Moyo, said that his party, the United Movement for Devolution (UMD), will contest the 2023 general elections.<\/p>\n

Moyo made the announcement at the launch of UMD\u2019s manifesto titled \u201d A Transformative Agenda for Total Reconstruction of State Power\u201d in Njube, Bulawayo on Saturday.<\/p>\n

According to the manifesto, UMD will prioritise devolution to reduce marginalisation, underdevelopment, inequality and injustice. Said Moyo:<\/p>\n

We are contesting in the 2023 elections and we will start knocking on doors to inform people what we are doing.<\/p>\n

Our preparation for the elections starts now and the focus is on building branches.<\/p>\n

As a party, we have declared our intentions to be part of the electoral process as we prepare for the next elections.<\/p>\n

We are making our views public in terms of sharing our policies as we work towards building a new prosperous and inclusive Zimbabwe<\/p>\n

We need to have councillors in council. Devolution does not start with an MP or the president.<\/p>\n

Moyo, who was an MDC-T MP for Matobo, formed the UMD after the death of MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai in 2018.<\/p>\n
