Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>South Africa\u2019s Health Minister, Joe Phaahla has announced the repealing of regulations on the wearing of face masks. Under Government Notice 2060 promulgated on 4 May 2022, members of the public entering and being inside an indoor public place were required to wear a face mask. No person was allowed to use any form of public transport if they were not wearing a face mask. Section 16B of the Notice regulated gatherings while 16C regulated persons entering South Africa to contain the spread of COVID-19. In the latest review of COVID-19 regulations, Phaahla said Notice 2060 had been repealed. This followed a decline in COVID-19 cases and deaths in recent weeks. Phaahla said:<\/p>\n

I Mathume Joseph Phaahla, Minister of Health hereby repeal Regulations 16A 16B and 16C of the Regulations Relating to the Surveillance and the Control of Notifiable Medical Conditions, made in terms of sections 90(i)(j), (k) and (w) of the National Health Act, 2003 (Act 61 of 2003), and promulgated on 4 May 2022 under Government Notice 2060, in their entirety.<\/p>\n

The repeal of the Regulations concerned will come into operation on publication in the Gazette.<\/p>\n
