Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee meeting held this Sunday has moved the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals to the start of 2024.<\/p>\n

The biennial tournament was supposed to be played in June and July 2023 in the Ivory Coast.<\/p>\n

CAF resolved to move the tournament from 2023 to 2024 because the rainy season in the Ivory Coast peaks in June and July.<\/p>\n

CAF President Patrice Motsepe confirmed the latest development at the CAF Executive Committee in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday.<\/p>\n

This is the second time CAF has been forced to shift the dates for the tournament.<\/p>\n

In 2021, CAF moved the AFCON finals to January and February 2022 because Cameroon was unable to host the competition in the June-July period because of the rainy season.<\/p>\n

The CAF Executive Committee meeting also resolved that the CAF Champions League final reverts to home and away format.<\/p>\n

It was also resolved that the African Super League will commence in August 2023.<\/p>\n
