Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) on Sunday opened the national voter\u2019s roll for public inspection to enable citizens to ascertain if their details were captured correctly.<\/p>\n

Besides physically visiting polling stations to check if they are registered, citizens can also check their registration status on a mobile phone using *265# for those with Econet or NetOne services.<\/p>\n

ZEC spokesperson Jasper Mangwana said that they have established more than 11 000 inspection centres across the country. He said:<\/p>\n

We are opening up the voters\u2019 roll for public scrutiny so that we enhance the credibility of our electoral processes.<\/p>\n

Apart from civil society organisations and the media, we have also invited the political parties to be accredited for the voter\u2019s roll inspection process.<\/p>\n

This is an opportunity to address any anomaly that may arise in the voters\u2019 roll.<\/p>\n

We want members of the public to inspect the voter\u2019s roll and identify if there are any anomalies so that we address them now as opposed to raising them at the 11th hour when we conduct delimitation and the 2023 harmonised election.<\/p>\n

The commission wants to enhance the credibility of the voters\u2019 roll and we have established 11 107 centres for the voters\u2019 roll inspection.<\/p>\n

These are mostly traditional polling stations for voters.<\/p>\n

ZEC has invited both local and international observers to observe the inspection of the voters\u2019 roll between 17 and 26 July 2022.<\/p>\n
