Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi said Zimbabweans must not rebel against the government but must honour the country\u2019s freedom fighters.<\/p>\n

Mutendi made the remarks on Saturday while addressing thousands of church members who were attending the annual Zuva Ra Samuel Mutendi Day commemorations at Defe Dopota in Gokwe South. He said:<\/p>\n

Patriotic Zimbabweans must not rebel against their Government and must also honour the gallant sons and daughters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.<\/p>\n

Zimbabweans must shy away from the spirit of rebellion which is counter-productive and goes against the spirit of nation-building.<\/p>\n

When you rebel against the village head, you rebel against the headman to the Chief and against the Government and to God.<\/p>\n

It is of utter importance that people submit themselves to authority.<\/p>\n

Mutendi also criticised some Zimbabweans who claim that the economic conditions during Ian Smith\u2019s Rhodesia were far much better than the current conditions under President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Said Mutendi:<\/p>\n

You stay in Zimbabwe and think you are in Rhodesia. Your father was born in Rhodesia and who brought the name Zimbabwe?<\/p>\n

You also forget the people who brought independence to the country. It\u2019s not right<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t forget the people who brought back your sovereignty. We have even asked the Government leadership to come and grace us tomorrow (today).<\/p>\n

Beware of rebellious spirits. Beware of rebellion against those in power.<\/p>\n

You Zimbabweans must appreciate that you are in an independent Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

There are people who sacrificed for the restoration of our sovereignty.<\/p>\n

As we celebrate the heroes- we remember those who died for this country.<\/p>\n

Here we are also celebrating the death of our leader Baba Samuel Mutendi.<\/p>\n

We must also remember those church members who were persecuted for the freedom of worship during the colonial era.<\/p>\n
