Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>CCC leader Nelson Chamisa has demanded that ZANU PF desists from allegedly using chiefs and village heads as its foot soldiers during elections.<\/p>\n

Addressing a victory \u201cthank you\u201d rally at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo on Sunday, the former ICT Minister also said the army, police and other security agencies should not be used by political parties. Chamisa said:<\/p>\n

I want to welcome our security sector. The security sector belongs to the people and not political parties.<\/p>\n

Our security sector must not be led astray by the notion that they are for a particular party.<\/p>\n

August is the month for our security forces. Soldiers are not for the party, they are for the people, and for the law.<\/p>\n

Soldiers and police do not salute the political parties but the Constitution of the people who they represent.<\/p>\n

Chiefs and headmen must not be used by political parties.<\/p>\n

Chamisa condemned what he called the persecution of opposition supporters and the biased judicial system in the country.<\/p>\n

Currently, CCC legislators Job Sikhala (Zengeza West) and Godfrey Sithole (Chitungwiza North) are in jail since 15 June.<\/p>\n

They were arrested for allegedly inciting violence following the brutal murder of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime.<\/p>\n

Thirteen other CCC activists are in jail in connection with the violence in Nyatsime where some houses were set on fire. All the accused have been denied bail.<\/p>\n
