Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Harare City Council (HCC) has said water supplies are expected to improve as chemical stocks improve and other mechanisms for equitable distribution are being explored. The local government makes the statement as residents have spent days, some weeks, without water with the city fathers citing \u201cunprecedented chemical supply challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a previous update published by Pindula News, HCC said most of the suburbs had little to no water for over a week after the local government authority had shut down Morton Jaffray Waterworks. The most recent update says the water situation is improving. Reads the statement:<\/p>\n

The City of Harare is advising residents and stakeholders that water production at Morton Jaffray averaged 230 megalitres and Prince Edward 80 mega litres giving a total of 310ML over the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Western suburbs of Dzivarasekwa, Kuwadzana, Glenview and Glen Norah are accessing water with low pressure, especially in elevated areas. Westlea, Warren Park and Kambuzuma accessed water although pressure was low. Budiriro will start receiving water on Thursday in some areas.<\/p>\n

Marlborough and Mabelreign had very low pressure and areas which receive water from reservoirs were mostly affected. Sentosa had no water owing to power challenges at the Avondale pump station which did not allow pumping into Emerald Hill. Supplies will be anticipated to resume on Thursday afternoon as we have closed to build up Alex reservoir.<\/p>\n

The CBD, Avondale and parts of Westlea are receiving water. Sunningdale, Mbare and Waterfalls are affected by low pressure but some are accessing. Mabvuku, Tafara, Msasa Park and Greendale started receiving water yesterday.<\/p>\n

Highlands, Borrowdale, Mt Pleasant and Hatcliffe are not receiving water at the moment. Supplies are expected to improve as chemical stocks improve and other mechanisms for equitable distribution are being explored.<\/p>\n
