Veteran female musician Sister Flame is celebrating 21 years in the music industry this year. In celebrating the milestone, Sister Flame has released the single Ngiyabonga featuring Jdot and DJ Tamuka. It is her first gospel song in a career spanning two decades.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am so grateful to God for guiding me through this journey. It was not an easy thing at first but we managed to sail through till this day,\u201d Sister Flame said. Real name Fortunate Matenga, Sister Flame is a producer, singer\/song-writer. Born and bred in Bulawayo where she did her junior and high school, she carved her artistic journey as a model, dancer and actress before joining the music industry thanks to the community group B.U.W.A.C.<\/p>\n
Sister flame later formed a music group Afrobase together with friends before she was discovered by Albert Nyathi. She joined Nyathi\u2019s Imbongi group and worked with him as a backing vocalist for half a year.<\/p>\n
When she moved to Harare, Sister Flame joined the late Andy Brown\u2019s Storm band in 1999 as a backing vocalist. During these days, she also worked with the late Chiwoniso Maraire. After acquiring the much-needed experience in the music industry, Sister Flame went on to record her own music backed by the group More Fire Crew.<\/p>\n
She was being assisted by veteran music producer Keith Farquharson, Andy Brown, Isaac Chirwa among others. She also teamed up with Ruvhuvhuto Sisters which was made up of Plaxedes Wenyika, Ivy Kombo, herself and the late Jackie Madondo among others.<\/p>\n
The group, Ruvhuvhuto Sisters, recorded two successful singles Malaika and Come to Victoria Falls. However, Sister Flame embarked on her solo career in 2004, recording a debut 10-track studio album The Road. Some of the plug songs on her first project included The One and Muzukuru popularly known by her fans as Wona Ngoro among others.<\/p>\n
In 2010, she recorded her second studio album The Flame of House which comprised six tracks. Currently, she is working on her fourth studio album titled Moto which is made up of five tracks.<\/p>\n
