Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>President Emmerson Mnangagwa is in Angola to attend the inauguration of re-elected Angolan President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o this Thursday.<\/p>\n

Mnangagwa arrived in Luanda on Wednesday night and was received at the Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda by Angola\u2019s External Relations Minister Tete Antonio, Zimbabwe\u2019s Ambassador to Angola, Retired Major General Thando Madzvamuse and embassy staff.<\/p>\n

He is being accompanied by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Frederick Shava and senior Government officials.<\/p>\n

Mnangagwa left Harare on Wednesday afternoon and was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Defence and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, senior Government officials and service chiefs.<\/p>\n

Angola held elections on 24 August 2022. Lourenco\u2019s party, the People\u2019s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) won 51.17 per cent of the vote.<\/p>\n

MPLA\u2019s closest challenger, the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), led by Adalberto Costa Junior, won 43.95 per cent.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony will be held at Luanda\u2019s Republic Square.<\/p>\n
