Theileriosis has been killing cattle around Zimbabwe. Theileriosis are a group of tick-borne diseases. Goromonzi, Wedza, Marondera, Chikomba, Buhera, Chivhu, Gutu, Chegutu, Centenary, Shamva and Bindura appear\u00a0on the list of affected areas.<\/p>\n
One farmer in Mhondoro-Ngezi Johnson Chipayi lost all his cattle to the disease. He sold the last batch of his cattle at very cheap prices in fear they would die too. Individuals and private abattoirs\u00a0from afar places like Harare, Gweru and Bulawayo have invaded theileriosis affected areas to buy cattle.<\/p>\n
In 2018, the country lost about 50 000 cattle to the disease. A worker at Mhondoro-Ngezi Veterinary Services Department, Noreen Ndlovu, indicated that efforts to alleviate the disease are already underway. She said:<\/p>\n
