Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Guo Shaochun has said China will continue to support Zimbabwe\u2019s economic and social development and improve its capacity for self-generated development.<\/p>\n

He made the remarks on Friday 30 September 2022 during a reception held at the Chinese Embassy in Harare to mark the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People\u2019s Republic of China. NewZimbabwe quotes him as saying:<\/p>\n

On the new journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, China will make new contributions to mankind\u2019s well-being and continue to share new opportunities with the world as it achieves new development.<\/p>\n

Our cooperation will adhere to recipient-driven approaches, and respect the independent choices of the Zimbabwean government and Zimbabwean people.<\/p>\n

In addition, he said cooperation between Zimbabwe and China will follow the principles of openness and transparency.<\/p>\n

On intergovernmental cooperation, Guo said various major infrastructure projects undertaken with China\u2019s aid covering all sectors of the economy have been completed, and have already started bearing fruits.<\/p>\n

Guo also said China is expediting Zimbabwe\u2019s citrus exports to China to support the southern African country\u2019s export portfolio.<\/p>\n

Guo said China encourages more capable Chinese companies to invest in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

On behalf of Zimbabwe\u2019s Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Fredrick Shava, Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi, applauded China for standing up with Zimbabwe in its developmental path.<\/p>\n

This comes as critics say China is exploiting Zimbabwe. They say China is trapping Zimbabwe in unsustainable debt to get access to minerals, and other natural resources.<\/p>\n
