{"id":671,"date":"2018-12-31T13:35:19","date_gmt":"2018-12-31T13:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/zimbabwe\/?p=671"},"modified":"2018-12-31T13:37:27","modified_gmt":"2018-12-31T13:37:27","slug":"economy-on-road-to-recovery-chiwenga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/economy\/economy-on-road-to-recovery-chiwenga","title":{"rendered":"Economy on road to recovery: Chiwenga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ACTING President Constantino Chiwenga yesterday said he was confident that Zimbabwe\u2019s economy was on the mend, as government was working flat out to turn around the country\u2019s fortunes.<span id=\"more-3096224744010468\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at the 2018\/19 \u201cnational thanksgiving and dedication service\u201d in Bulawayo at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair organised by Faith of the Nation Campaign under the theme It\u2019s Time to Pray and Work for Unity, Peace and Prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>This came as doctors have downed tools demanding salaries in foreign currency and better working conditions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsd-211823880\" class=\"newsd-2nd-advert-incontent\">\n<p>Civil servants have also threatened a national shutdown if their salary demands were not addressed in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Year-on-year inflation rate for November also moved to 31,01% as prices of goods and services went up by more than 100%, and in some instances, increasing three-fold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur nation is going through a difficult patch. Our children need jobs. Government is doing its best to turnaround the fortunes of our nation. We are confident that our economy is on the path to recovery. Things will start to look up in the coming months. We have many resources, all of them God-given. We are a hard-working people thanks to the discipline and work ethic. Before long, our nation will prosper,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou die even for that which is yours.
