Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Ethiopia has awarded a Pan-African prize to Morocco\u2019s late King Hassan II, Zimbabwe\u2019s late founding leader Robert Mugabe and other African leaders recognizing their contributions to The prosperity of the African continent.<\/p>\n

Hassan II was honoured for his contributions to the establishment of the African Union and Pan-Africanism, according to Morrocco World News.<\/p>\n

Ethiopia\u2019s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed presented the award to the speaker of Morocco\u2019s House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami on Tuesday in a ceremony held in the country\u2019s capital Addis Ababa, news outlet FanaBC reported.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was part of the first African Youth Summit, which took place between October 29 and November 1.<\/p>\n

The late monarch, who was one of the founding fathers of the Organization of African Unity, was recognised for his determination to defend the best interests of the continent, as well as to ensure the peace and prosperity of its people.<\/p>\n

In addition to the late Moroccan sovereign, the Ethiopian PM presented awards to the families of 17 other late leaders, commemorating their contributions to the prosperity of the African continent.<\/p>\n

The awarded leaders include:<\/p>\n

1). Ethiopia\u2019s Emperor Haile Selassie I,<\/p>\n

2). Zambia\u2019s Kenneth Kaunda,<\/p>\n

3). Tanzania\u2019s Julius Nyerere,<\/p>\n

4). Zimbabwe\u2019s Robert Mugabe,<\/p>\n

5). Guinea\u2019s Ahmed Sekou Toure,<\/p>\n

6). Mali\u2019s Modibo Keita,<\/p>\n

7). Cote d\u2019Ivoire\u2019s Felix Hoffet Bounai and<\/p>\n

8). Senegal\u2019s Leopold Sedar Senghor.<\/p>\n

The four-day event brought together youth from across African countries, with the aim of strengthening pan-Africanist visions and promoting the best interests of the continent.<\/p>\n

Highlighting Africa\u2019s great potential, the Ethiopian Prime Minister entrusted African young leaders with \u201cbringing Africa\u2019s hope to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n
