Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Dozens of youths turned up in Bulawayo last week to showcase their talents during a routine selection exercise for prospective beneficiaries of United States Universities academic and football scholarships.<\/p>\n

More than 100 boys under the age of 18 thronged the event at White City Stadium B Arena with some coming from as far as Harare, Hwange, and Chinhoyi.<\/p>\n

Mkhokheli Dube, who started his career at Highlanders before moving to the United States of America on a football scholarship, said he was delighted with the turnout. He said:<\/p>\n

Obviously, we are delighted at the turnout. We have kids from all over the country.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s good to see parents driving from afar and also locals supporting the event; it is the future of their children.<\/p>\n

There was good talent on display. At the moment, we are looking at all positions. We have a clue about the expectations of universities in the US.<\/p>\n

The boys did their best and we were all impressed.<\/p>\n

The trials are set to be completed this week.<\/p>\n

Dube is being assisted by a number of development enthusiasts and Bulawayo Chiefs\u2019 Kelvin Madzongwe.<\/p>\n

Dube had a successful stint with New Revolution in the US Major League.<\/p>\n

Several Zimbabweans have benefited from U.S. Universities academic and football scholarships.<\/p>\n

These include Methembe Ndlovu, Wayne Albertyn, Patrick Daka, Mubariki Chisoni, Joseph Ngwenya, Joseph Kabwe, Sma Magagula, Thabani Moyo, Tawanda Kaseke, Tapiwa Kaseke, Takwana Kaseke, Tawanda Chitapi and Eddie Mukahanana.<\/p>\n
