Midlands Provincial Affairs minister Larry Mavima has said government has given a nod for Wanderer Mine in Shurugwi to re-open after the State ordered its closure early this year.<\/p>\n
Government ordered the gold mine to cease operations, as a safety measure after part of the mineshaft collapsed last December, trapping several illegal gold miners.<\/p>\n
All miners, including artisanal miners who were illegally extracting gold were evacuated from the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are happy that artisanal miners complied with the government directive and rectified areas that needed to be attended to,\u201d Mavima said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are convinced as government that all security and safety measures at the mine have been addressed after going through a report by the provincial chief mining engineer.
\nThere is, therefore, no need to continue the shutdown of Wanderer Mine.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wanderer Mine, which is part of Falcon Gold Mining company, has some of the richest gold reserves in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
