Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Chitungwiza North MP, Godfrey Sithole (CCC), says suspected state security agents have been trailing him in an effort to intimidate him.<\/p>\n

Sithole told The Standard<\/b> that he has been receiving strange visitors at his home \u201con a daily basis\u201d. He said:<\/p>\n

I have noticed that there are people who are monitoring and following me just like a hawk does its prey.<\/p>\n

We have been receiving strange visitors at my residential place purporting to be lost and some asking funny questions, on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

It is not a coincidence, they are being sent.<\/p>\n

I have also noticed that cars without registration numbers are following me and others are parking nearby.<\/p>\n

In this country, we have a situation whereby security agents and government institutions declare that they only take orders from seniors, not recognising the law, and trashing their constitutional duties.<\/p>\n

Professionalism and respect were lost due to crass political opportunism.<\/p>\n

Sithole was arrested in June 2022 alongside Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala (MDC Alliance) after political violence rocked Nyatsime following the murder of Moreblessing Ali, a CCC activist.<\/p>\n

The two legislators were detained alongside 14 other Nyatsime residents charged with inciting public violence.<\/p>\n

Sithole and the Nyatsime 14 were granted bail in November but Sikhala remains in pre-trial detention.<\/p>\n
