Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Two men appeared in court for allegedly selling voter registration forms to people who wanted to register to vote in the forthcoming general elections.<\/p>\n

James Chinzete and Garikai Ruwizhu appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court charged with fraud.<\/p>\n

They were not asked to plead to the charges.<\/p>\n

What happened:<\/b><\/p>\n

It is alleged that on February 24 the duo connived to defraud people who intended to register to vote during the impending Presidential harmonised elections.<\/p>\n

They then allegedly approached Brandon Chandomba at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)<\/b> offices at Makombe Building in Harare.<\/p>\n

Chandomba wanted to register to vote and was waiting to be supplied with ZEC VR1 forms<\/p>\n

The accused told him that he was supposed to use Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) VR3 and VR9 forms.<\/p>\n

According to The Herald, they allegedly charged him US$5.<\/p>\n

The forms are not for sale.<\/b>
\nZEC VR3<\/b> is a voter transfer form while VR9<\/b> is an affidavit of residence voter registration form.<\/p>\n

Other people who were also queuing asked ZEC officials about the price of the forms leading to the duo\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

They were searched and found with 21 blank transfer and registration forms.<\/p>\n
