Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>MDC Alliance leader, Senator Douglas Mwonzora<\/b>, has recalled three Norton<\/b> Town Council councillors for alleged allegiance to the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)<\/b> led by Nelson Chamisa<\/b>.<\/p>\n

In a letter dated February 27, 2023, Local Government minister, July Moyo,<\/b> notified Norton Town Council\u2019s Town Clerk that Mwonzora had recalled the three councillors. Reads the letter seen by Pindula News:<\/p>\n

The above subject matter refers.<\/p>\n

I wish to inform you that I am in receipt of a letter from the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T)<\/b> stating that the following councillors have been expelled from the Party:-<\/p>\n

1. CIIr Rosemary Chnoyera Ward 9 <\/b>
\n2. Cllr Charles Dube Ward 2 <\/b>
\n3. Cllr Muchaneta Munyeveri Ward 3<\/b><\/p>\n

In terms of Section 278(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, as read with Section (1)(k), the above-mentioned wards are now vacant.<\/p>\n

In terms of Section 121 of the Electoral Act, please proceed to inform the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission<\/b> of these vacancies.<\/p>\n

The recalls started in 2020 when the Supreme Court ruled<\/b> that Nelson Chamisa, a former Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, was not the legitimate leader of the MDC.<\/p>\n

To date, several councillors and or Members of Parliament have been recalled for their allegiance to Nelson Chamisa.<\/p>\n
