Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The former Counsellor Embassy of Zimbabwe in Sweden and Consul-General to Johannesburg South Africa, Melody Chaurura, is Zimbabwe\u2019s Ambassador-Designate to Namibia.<\/p>\n

An Ambassador-Designate is an official who has been named to be an ambassador, but who has not yet taken his oath of office.<\/p>\n

Chaurura paid a courtesy call on President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare this Monday before leaving the country to assume her duties in Namibia.<\/p>\n

Addressing journalists on her mission, Chaurura said she will strive to deepen bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Namibia. ZBC News quoted her as saying:<\/p>\n

I feel very much honoured to be given this honour to serve as Zimbabwe\u2019s Ambassador to Namibia.<\/p>\n

I look forward to broadening and deepening existing bilateral relations between the two countries, both from a diplomatic perspective and broadening economic cooperation.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe and Namibia enjoy cordial relations and are both members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).<\/p>\n

President Emmerson Mnangagwa appointed Chaurura as the country\u2019s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Namibia on 06 March 2023.<\/p>\n

A general notice published in the Government Gazette at the time read:<\/p>\n

It is hereby notified that His Excellency the President has, in terms of section 110 (2)(i) as read with section 204 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, appointed Mrs Melody Chaurura as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Namibia.<\/p>\n
