Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Zimbabwe is the world\u2019s fourth unhappiest country, after Afghanistan, Lebanon and Sierra Leone, according to the World Happiness Report released on Monday, 20 March 2023.<\/p>\n

On the other end, Finland is the world\u2019s happiest country, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Israel, and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

The annual World Happiness Report ranks global happiness in more than 150 countries around the world.<\/p>\n

According to Forbes, for the sixth year in a row, Finland has been named the happiest country in the world.<\/p>\n

The report is overseen by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network and is released every year in honour of the International Day of Happiness on 20 March.<\/p>\n

The ranking is based on data from sources like the Gallup World Poll, leveraging six key factors: social support, income, health, freedom, generosity and absence of corruption.<\/p>\n

According to the experts from Aalto University in Finland, there are several key factors that make Finland the happiest country. Aalto University lecturer Frank Martela, says:<\/p>\n

Finland seems to excel here because of the Finnish welfare system\u2019s ability to help its citizens feel taken care of.<\/p>\n

Things like relatively generous unemployment benefits and nearly free healthcare help mitigate sources of unhappiness, ensuring that there are fewer people in Finland who are highly unsatisfied with their lives.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the lowest-ranking countries on the report also happen to be war-torn: Afghanistan and Lebanon.<\/p>\n

According to the Investment Monitor, in February 2023, Zimbabwe had the highest inflation rate in the world at 230%.<\/p>\n

Millions of Zimbabweans have left the country to escape poverty over the past two decades, with the majority of those left behind, including civil servants, living in abject poverty.<\/p>\n
