Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A Harare man was shot three times in the head by assailants while sitting in his car with his girlfriend who was then held hostage and raped.<\/p>\n

The couple was sitting in a car along Lomagundi Road when they were attacked.<\/p>\n

H-Metro reported that one of the suspects, identified as Tapiwa Mbirimi also has pending armed robbery and attempted murder charges.<\/p>\n

Mbirimi appeared before magistrate, Stanford Mambanje, on Wednesday facing fresh murder, robbery, and rape charges.<\/p>\n

He was remanded in custody to 15 May, pending the finalisation of investigations.<\/p>\n

Prosecuting, Lancelot Mutsokoti said that on 19 November 2022, Mbirimi, together with his accomplice only known as Archford, confronted the now deceased Tendai Kandendu.<\/p>\n

Kandendu was in the company of his girlfriend and they were sitting in their parked vehicle along Lomagundi Road in Harare.<\/p>\n

Mbirimi was allegedly armed with a pistol while his accomplice had a knife.<\/p>\n

The duo attacked the couple, demanding money but Kandendu fought back and reached for his gun, which was in the car.<\/p>\n

Mbirimi and Archford wrestled Kandendu and took his gun and shot him three times in the head, killing him instantly.<\/p>\n

The duo allegedly took Kandendu\u2019s girlfriend hostage and stole the couple\u2019s phones and US$300.<\/p>\n

Mbirimi dragged the girl to a nearby bush and raped her before telling him to seek assistance from a nearby house.<\/p>\n

He then melted into the darkness.<\/p>\n
