Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The Government says the Kariba Airport will be relocated to a new site to accommodate more aircraft and boost tourism in the town.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch of the Fastjet flights in Kariba last week, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona said:<\/p>\n

Government, through my ministry, identified a new site for the relocation of this airport.<\/p>\n

Relocating the airport to a new site will accommodate a wide range of aircraft and promote Kariba as a tourist destination.<\/p>\n

… My ministry will continue to support the aviation industry as it is an essential service to the development of the economy through the promotion of trade and tourism.<\/p>\n

Aviation contributes to the national gross domestic product and employment creation.<\/p>\n

Kariba Tourism and Business Indaba co-ordinator Cephas Shonhiwa said there was a need for the Government to repair the road linking Harare and Kariba which is now in a sorry state.<\/p>\n
