Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Castle Lager Premier Soccer League defending champions FC Platinum are hoping to knock CAPS United off their perch when the two sides meet at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n

CAPS United have kept clean sheets in all of their opening matches of the current campaign which has propelled them to the summit of the league.<\/p>\n

Makepepeke, who are led by coach Lloyd Chitembwe, beat Manica Diamonds and were held to a goalless draw by Ngezi Platinum Stars in Mhondoro in their first two matches, respectively.<\/p>\n

They then beat ZPC Kariba and Black Rhinos in the other two matches.<\/p>\n

However, FC Platinum get into the high-profile fixture in mourning following the death of Platinum Queens\u2019 netball star Sbekezelo Ncubewho died suddenly on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Speaking to NewsDay, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said he hoped the tragedy won\u2019t affect the players in tomorrow\u2019s match. He said:<\/p>\n

It hasn\u2019t been easy for us. We lost one of our sisters from the Platinum Queens. We are trying to cope with the situation.<\/p>\n

Everyone is down following the development. We have been preparing well. We know the challenge.<\/p>\n

CAPS United have been playing well, playing brilliant football.<\/p>\n

They haven\u2019t been conceding. They are well organised in every department. It\u2019s not to be easy. It\u2019s all about mental strength.<\/p>\n

My biggest fear is I hope the boys won\u2019t be affected by what happened yesterday. We are going to try and get a result against all odds.<\/p>\n

When the two sides last met, the match ended 2-2 in October 2022. FC Platinum had won 3-0 at Mandava Stadium in the other fixture.<\/p>\n
