PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for increased trade with Mozambique through strategic synergies between the two countries\u2019 private sectors.<\/p>\n

Mozambican President Fillipe Nyusi is currently in Zimbabwe on a three days long visit ending Friday.<\/p>\n

He has so far entered into a number MoUs with Zimbabwe during a Business Forum, toured the National Heroes Acre and the African Museum of Liberation.<\/p>\n

An energy sharing deal between Harare and Maputo is also expected to be explored during the high level state visit.<\/p>\n

Addressing delegates at the Inaugural Zimbabwe \u2013 Mozambique Business Forum and Exhibition Wednesday, Mnangagwa called for the two nations to deepen their trade ties.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this regard, the theme of this Business Forum: \u201cAccelerating Trade and Investment between Mozambique and Zimbabwe through Strengthened Partnerships\u201d is apt as we coordinate efforts towards delivering timely results and high impact initiatives for the prosperity of our economies and peoples.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that this Business Forum and Exhibition will also provide the requisite mechanisms for in-depth business to business transactions to achieve concrete successes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Through already existing trade links, Mozambique is currently Zimbabwe\u2019s fourth largest global export market, after South Africa, United Arab Emirates and China, and fifth largest source market after South Africa, China, Singapore and Mauritius.<\/p>\n

He dangled investment opportunities in the different sectors, which include agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure development, transport, tourism, Information Communication Technology, as well as in the field of education.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Zimbabwe journeys towards the attainment of a prosperous and empowered upper middle income society by 2030, we are improving production and productivity across all sectors of the economy. This will require additional energy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is, thus, commendable that negotiations on a broad Memorandum of Understanding on Energy are progressing well. Accordingly, its conclusion must provide a comprehensive and structured framework for increased co-operation in this important area,\u201d added Mnangagwa.<\/p>\n
