Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Journalist Hopewell Chin\u2019ono has warned CCC leader Nelson Chamisa that he may find himself isolated if \u201cthings go wrong on August 23\u201d because he got rid of senior party officials he doesn\u2019t like during the party\u2019s candidate selection process.<\/p>\n

CCC abandoned primary elections and conducted a candidate selection process whereby some aspiring candidates who received the highest number of votes during the \u201cvoting\u201d stage were sidelined in favour of those who received fewer votes.<\/p>\n

During the ongoing election campaigns, Chamisa has often appeared at rallies without his vice presidents Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube.<\/p>\n

Chin\u2019ono said Mnangagwa is campaigning with his deputies, Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi as well as party chairperson Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, thereby creating a semblance of unity at the top.<\/p>\n

Chin\u2019ono made the comments after former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko was photographed shaking hands with Mnangagwa at a ZANU PF rally in Nkayi on Sunday, 30 July. Wrote Chin\u2019ono:<\/p>\n

Mnangagwa has used the election to fire up the ZANUPF base and create a semblance of reconciliation and Unity at the top of his party.<\/p>\n

He doesn\u2019t necessarily like all these characters like former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, and the people also don\u2019t like him.<\/p>\n

Nelson Chamisa did the opposite, he used the election to purge all the people he doesn\u2019t like in the name of a new candidate process.<\/p>\n

Where Mnangagwa is campaigning with Chiwenga, Mohadi and Muchinguri. Chamisa is campaigning on his own without his Vice Presidents.<\/p>\n

This leaves him open to being left alone at the top if things go wrong on August 23.<\/p>\n

The others won\u2019t take responsibility for failure which they were not part of, it will be his alone at the top just like what happened with the Bulawayo 12.<\/p>\n

His reflective supporters will understand this, his Chete-Chete crew won\u2019t see this except when the chickens come home to roost.<\/p>\n

Chamisa has to win and take power to prevail!<\/p>\n

Mphoko is considered a member of the ZANU PF G-40 faction that was opposed to Mnangagwa\u2019s rise to the presidency but was decimated following the November 2017 military coup.<\/p>\n
