Highlanders president Ndumiso Gumede has called for calm in light of the chaos rocking the club.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s CEO Nhlanhla Dube was not renewed despite recommendations from the club board.\u00a0Following the decision not to terminate Dube\u2019s contract two executive members Modern Ngwenya and Israel Moyo were suspended.<\/p>\n
The recent events come at a time when club has been struggling on the pitch and are winless after their five games and currently lie in the relegation zone.<\/p>\n
A statement from club president Ndumiso Gumede read:<\/p>\n
Highlanders Football Club has in recent times been plagued by a host of problems from player revolt to Executive Committee indiscipline which may have indirectly or directly affected the first team performance.<\/em><\/p>\n The challenges bedevilling the club culminated in what the board viewed as serious acts of misconduct wherein a minority of the Executive Committee members ignored protocol and proceeded to terminate the CEO\u2019s contract of employment at a time when the issue was still receiving attention by the club\u2019s structures and was known to those Executive members.<\/em><\/p>\n It is against that background that the board saw it fit to suspend the Executive secretary and the Vice chairman pending disciplinary action. The two were served with letter of suspension to facilitate the commencement of proceedings before a disciplinary tribunal constituted in terms of the club\u2019s constitution where there shall be accorded their day to ventilate their own side of the story.<\/em><\/p>\n I wish to assure the multitude of our members , supporters and valued sponsors that everything is done in the best interest of this great club and that the matter is receiving professional and impartial attention. I therefore appeal for calm while we painstakingly follow due process whose outcome shall be communicated to all stakeholders. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
