Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>Journalist Hopewell Chin\u2019ono has claimed that Sengezo Tshabangu<\/b> and his team have approached senior Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs seeking to resolve their dispute in a civil manner.<\/p>\n

This comes after Tshabangu recalled nine elected MPs early this month, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa having already proclaimed 09 December 2023 as the date for by-elections to replace them.<\/p>\n

Senior CCC officials who are working with Tshabangu have not yet come out in the open but reports claim that former MDC leaders disgruntled by Nelson Chamisa\u2019s alleged dictatorial tendencies are his handlers.<\/p>\n

Posting on X, Chin\u2019ono said Tshabangu and his colleagues insist they are not after seizing CCC from Chamisa but want to force him to return to constitutionalism. He said:<\/p>\n

Sengezo Tshabangu and his team have reached out to senior CCC MPs seeking to resolve their dispute amicably.<\/p>\n

Tshabangu and his team said that they have delayed replacing proportional representation MPs because they have said that their intention is not to do a Douglas Mwonzora on CCC, but to force Nelson Chamisa to return the party to constitutionalism.<\/p>\n

Some of the leaders who were approached by Tshabangu\u2019s team confirmed that Tshabangu\u2019s lawyer also reached out to them suggesting an amicable settlement that doesn\u2019t destroy CCC or allow ZANU PF to benefit from the internal discord.<\/p>\n

Their main demands are a return to the leadership elected at the Gweru Congress, a return to constitutionalism and an accountable leadership which is guided by the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n

Nelson Chamisa insists that CCC is a new party without elected leaders except himself and the ones he has appointed.<\/p>\n

Tshabangu has apparently gained control over the CCC\u2019s elected officials after the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Local Government Minister acted on his letters to recall MPs and councillors while Chamisa\u2019s plea to reverse the recalls was ignored.<\/p>\n
