Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) has reportedly not paid some of the examination markers that it engaged to mark the 2023 November Ordinary Level examinations.<\/p>\n

The markers, who spoke to CITE<\/b> on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said they were paid US$175 of the US$375 promised for travel and subsistence allowances.<\/p>\n

The markers alleged that they were also meant to be paid US$250 for marking itself, which they have not yet received.<\/p>\n

They also claimed ZIMSEC closed all WhatsApp groups they were using for receiving updates.<\/p>\n

Some of the aggrieved markers alleged they received payments in their accounts, but the payments were later reversed.<\/p>\n

Contacted for comment by CITE, ZIMSEC public relations manager Nicky Dlamini said all examiners had been paid. Said Dlamini:<\/p>\n

Examiner payments are and have been processed accordingly. We implore any examiner who may have an anomaly to contact us for timely assistance.<\/p>\n

As an organisation, we cannot comment on WhatsApp groups as we do not corporately create these. I<\/p>\n

f it was amongst a group of examiners, they may seek reprieve from their administrators.<\/p>\n

ZIMSEC is dedicated to ensuring that all examiners receive their dues timeously for the invaluable service they have provided.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another report<\/b> claims ZIMSEC hasn\u2019t yet paid the owners of vehicles hired to transport 2023 examination papers, five months after they rendered their services.<\/p>\n

The vehicles were hired through the government\u2019s Central Mechanical and Equipment Department (CMED) at a rate of US$152 per day.<\/p>\n

They ferried examination papers for Grade Seven, Ordinary and Advanced levels to various centres across Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
