Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>There was chaos at St Faith\u2019s High School outside Rusape, Manicaland Province, this week after suspected \u201chired thugs\u201d disrupted lessons at the school, which the Anglican Church runs.<\/p>\n

As reported by NewsDay<\/b>, the school head, Arnold Makamba, who is being accused of over-enrolling for this year\u2019s Form 1 places, allegedly hired the thugs to attack Anglican Diocese of Manicaland leaders led by Bishop Eric Ruwona to cause confusion at the school.<\/p>\n

Some parents were captured in videos which have since gone viral, demonstrating at school.<\/p>\n

The school head is also being accused of unilaterally hiking fees without the government\u2019s approval, and working in cahoots with some school development committee (SDC) members to depose the authority which runs the school affairs.<\/p>\n

It is also alleged that Makamba and SDC members have been fighting to control the school\u2019s main account, a development that has led to the clashes.
\nSpeaking to NewsDay on Thursday, 08 February, a church member Amos Mabiya, said:<\/p>\n

This is not the first time this has happened. We are seeing the same faces who are known friends of the headmaster [who] want to confuse the school after the over-enrolment of learners.<\/p>\n

The SDC wants to control the school\u2019s main account and exclude the main authority which is the church and has made attempts to depose the church and appoint dubious characters to support this anarchy.<\/p>\n

Bishop Ruwona yesterday confirmed to NewsDay the disturbances saying they are investigating the matter and talking to the responsible authority.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Makamba reportedly did not answer his mobile phone when contacted for a comment.<\/p>\n
