Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>CCC acting president Welshman Ncube has denied allegations that he was Sengezo Tshabangu\u2019s handler and responsible for the recalls of the party\u2019s Members of Parliament and Councillors in 2022.<\/p>\n

There were claims that Ncube and Tendai Biti were behind Tshabangu and were using him to decimate the opposition party to spite party leader Nelson Chamisa.<\/p>\n

However, speaking to CITE<\/b>, Ncube said he only got to know about the recalls when a friend based in the diaspora called to inform him. He said:<\/p>\n

The truth of the matter is that I, as an individual, first learned about the first wave of recalls from a friend in the diaspora.<\/p>\n

They called me and said, \u2018Nelson Chamisa has recalled people.\u2019 I said, \u2018No, that\u2019s not possible.\u2019 They insisted there was a letter in parliament recalling people.<\/p>\n

I said, \u2018It\u2019s not possible. Give me the names of the people who have been recalled.\u2019<\/p>\n

They gave me the names, and I said, \u2018Chamisa can\u2019t recall the names of the people you are saying, because some of them are his closest friends and allies. It\u2019s not possible.\u2019<\/p>\n

They said there was a letter, and they sent the letter signed by Sengezo Tshabangu.<\/p>\n

I said, \u2018But Tshabangu is not the interim SG of CCC.\u2019 I called him asking if he signed it, and he said, \u2018Yes, I wrote it.\u2019<\/p>\n

I said, \u2018Like how? You do this without even telling some of us?\u2019 He said, \u2018We knew,\u2019 using a plural pronoun, \u2018we knew that you would not approve, but we did it.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ncube said the second wave of recalls occurred while he was mourning his late mother. He said:<\/p>\n

The people who came to the funeral said to me, \u201973 people have been recalled,\u2019 and I said, \u2018Really?\u2019 They said, \u2018Yes, the letters have gone.\u2019<\/p>\n

I again called Tshabangu and said to him, \u2018Have you recalled these people?\u2019 He said, \u2018No, I haven\u2019t recalled people.\u2019<\/p>\n

So, I assured people that I had spoken to Tshabangu, and he said he has not recalled anybody.<\/p>\n

Then when 23 people were recalled, I called him again. I said, \u2018But you said you haven\u2019t recalled anybody.\u2019<\/p>\n

He said, \u2018No, I said I hadn\u2019t recalled 73 people. I didn\u2019t say I hadn\u2019t recalled anybody.\u2019<\/p>\n

I said, \u2018But surely you should have then said it\u2019s not true that 73 people have been recalled, only 23 people have been recalled.\u2019<\/p>\n

So, this couldn\u2019t have been happening if Tshabangu was not his own man. If Tshabangu was controlled by me, and I know for a fact that VP Biti didn\u2019t control Tshabangu, he was as much in the dark as I was.<\/p>\n

Chamisa eventually quit CCC alleging the party had been captured by ZANU PF through proxies.<\/p>\n
