Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare says they are still pushing for government\u2019s involvement in Macauley Bonne\u2019s passport case, but so far everything is on course.<\/p>\n
The Leyton Orient striker was born in England to Zimbabwean parents but wants to represent the Southern African country at the Afcon 2019. He submitted his application for a local passport last month and Zifa has already taken some steps in the process.<\/p>\n
However, new amendments on the Zimbabwe Citizenship Bill have stalled the progress. The law now requires Bonne to renounce his British citizenship first so that he can get a local passport.<\/p>\n
According to The Herald, Mpandare said: \u201cWe have been pushing for the waiver (or special dispensation) so that Bonne can get the papers which will enable him to play a part in Egypt.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he gets the passport on time, obviously, he is in (the Warriors squad) as we are pushing to beat the CAF registration deadline.<\/p>\n
